Lucky Bamboo

The atmosphere alone is impeccable in this place, just stunning!
I'm a biiiiig person on cleanliness, especially about where I eat. A huge indicator to me that a place probably isn't cleanly is if their lobby is obviously dirty (ie.. multiple dirty tables, dead bugs on the windows seal, muddy floors, dirty condiment bottles, etc.) but Lucky Bamboo almost instantly put my mind at ease once I stepped foot into the business.
Not only are they cleanly, but the food is delicious. I've lived in Iowa for going on 4 years now, and one of the biggest disadvantage I keep running into is poorly made, not appetizing oriental food. I truly only have a handful I would comfortably order takeout from and Lucky Bamboo is one of them!
The service is quick too. I came in last time during a lunch rush hour at around 12:30-1 pm and all I had time to do was pick a seat, wash my hands, and then BOOM my plate of food was dropped in front of me. Hot and fresh, YUM!
Overall, I'd say Lucky Bamboo is a GREAT place to eat.

Meh....it will have to do if you're in Ankeny and want Chinese.

The egg rolls are small and lacking flavor. They don't include the spicy mustard with pickup/delivery orders.

The crab Rangoon had no hint of crab.

The entree portions seemed on the small side.

The fried rice combo was very good. And the prices are OK.

i ordered Mongolian beef with no onions
it's like it came from a pot but not grilled. very lazy. egg rolls were half done and not crisp.

The service is always friendly and everything I've tried there has been delicious. Hubby got the Teriyaki Bowl but dove in before I could take a picture. He said that it was as good as the JC Mall teriyaki.

If you get the "special" meals, then it comes with your choice of entree plus egg roll, crab rangoon and soup of the day. They also serve Pho!!

Hole in the wall in the best possible way! Tried this spot for dinner last week, I was impressed with the large portion of the special size. You order at the counter and they bring your food to the table. Drinks are self serve as well. We ran into an issue where part of our food was delayed and they brought out the wrong entree at first. Would have been nice to have a both dishes brought out at the same time- mine was delayed another 15 min from when the other was brought out.

Amazing flavor in both the crab rangoons and the cashew chicken! Th orange chicken was a bit more bland, but perhaps that's because I did spice level 1. (Which normally I'm a whimp with heat!) order to go, ready for pickup when I arrived, and still hot when we got home.

Good food and great service in a quiet dining room. Food wasn't very hot but it was good.

1st time visit to Lucky Bamboo Asian Cuisine in Ankeny this past Saturday, and I'm telling you right now that they earned 5-stars from both of us. You order at the counter, so like many restaurants such as these, I'd suggest looking at the menu online before you get there. SO MANY dishes to choose from, but we opted with one of the "special" dishes, as they all come with soup of day, egg roll, rangoon, and your choice of white or fried rice. I got Cashew Chicken (pic), and my wife got orange Chicken. You seat yourself, and here's a bit of a warning. If it's crowded, which it was on this noon hour, it can be rather noisy due to the low ceilings (not Lucky Bamboo's fault if you ask me.) So, if you go, and if it's crowded, be aware ... the excellent food will make up for it!

So, how about the restrooms? If you follow me, you know I checkout the restrooms for my reviews, but in this case I saw that a man had just taken his 2 kids into the men's room, so I thought I'd wait 'til I got home. Next time.

Food just very poor quality. Went with the restaurants special Mongolian beef. Soup had a bad smell, didn't try it. Rangoon I had to spit out. Mongolian beef 2/5. Overall 1/5 is my honest review

Food was ok not great tasting sorry guys hate to leave bad reviews but it was not good at all
