So Lisa called me from the Service Department last week and said I'm due for an oil change. She was great, and I made an appointment for today at 10:45. I pulled in to the service area a few minutes early and checked in with Emily. I sat in the customer area to wait for my oil change & tire rotation to be done. I immediately received a check-in waiver text link, which I signed & returned right away. I must have gotten spoiled by the speedy service I received last time I was here, because I started watching for the video of my car that they send. I waited and waited and saw a few other people come and go, and others who got a visit from service personnel updating them about their cars. I waited some more and then I saw Emily walk by so I stopped her and asked about my car and told her I'd been there for 45 minutes with no communication, but she just said it usually takes about an hour. (WHAT? For an oil change?) She said she'd check on it and let me know, but I never heard back from her, so after another 15 minutes I went looking for her and after being ignored and then put off by the guys in the office area, had to walk out through the service drive-in area to ask her again. She said she'd let me know as soon as it's done. I went back and sat down & immediately got the link to the inspection video, and then Emily came to get my payment.
--So the moral of this story is...GOOD COMMUNICATION MAKES FOR GOOD CUSTOMER SERVICE! They could've saved me a lot of frustration and gotten a return customer (& a better review) if they had just let me know how long it might take or at least updated me! Next time I'll probably go somewhere cheaper and closer to home for my oil changes.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Apr 26, 2022Updated review
First, before I had even gone to them for service, but had made an appointment, I got an email wishing me a happy birthday. I got there on my appt date, a bit early, and they took my car to get a start on it. I sat in the customer area, which was clean and organized. They brought my car back through the return area of the entry part. While i was waiting, I got a video of my car inspection. I've never had this kind of service before. I'll

We really appreciate you taking the time to share your experience with us, Julie.
Dec 24, 2021Previous reviewSo far, I've had a long history fro this company, and I'm HOPING they are gonna be a 5star. My first experience wasn't very good. It was in 2006 and while I looked at new cars for over a half hour, with none of the 3 salesmen that were standing outside the building helping me at all, I passed them by for a salesman inside. No one treated me very decently UNTIL(as it turns out) they found out my credit score. And the a$$ kissing continued through just before I left, when I told them they could stop, because they already had my money. Sincerity is HUGE in customer satisfaction. Huge. So, what changed recently? My 2022 Prius was making a really scary noise, esp when backing up. I called, left messages a couple times. The guy called me back a week later when he got back into town. Turns out there is a law that electric cars MUST make a noise when the electric part is in sole use. Dammit if Toyota manufacturers decided making them sound like a dying engine, 20 yo hupty was the chosen sound. Toyota, I'll take that beep, beep ANY DAY over this! Be very careful if taking your car there for service they charge just to diagnosis your problem. We took our car to them because the low tire light would not go out even though all tires, including the spare have the correct tire pressure. Setting up the appointment was quick and easy though nothing was mentioned about a charge for diagnostics. We dropped it off the night before and that was very easy. The day of they appointment I got a text says the estimate was $120.00 and asking for approval. It was not clear that this was only for the diagnosis I thought it was to fix the problem. I gave approval and an hour later I got another text saying what the problem was and the estimate to fix it would be almost $500.00. I asked what was the $120 for and was told that was for diagnosing the problem.
Will never take our car there again even though it was purchased there.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Robert H.Ankeny, IA11Dec 3, 2023

I called this morning (4/15/23) to arrange a time during operating hours (8a-6p) to test drive a 23 Tundra. Due to our circumstance, I wasn't able to come in until 5, a full hour before closing. The salesman I spoke to informed me that 1 hour is not long enough to test drive a vehicle (what?) and set up some time next week to meet with me. He told me he would shortly email me a confirmation of our "appointment", which I have yet to receive (5 hours later at the time of this review).
There are a number of problems with this interaction. It seems like Toyota of Des Moines discourages people from working until the end of their shift, based on this experience. I don't know about anyone else, but everywhere I've worked I am expected to work until the end of my shift, not turn customers away because they can't arrive more than hour before closing. Second, test driving a car takes 15-20 minutes, leaving 30-40 minutes to discuss the possibility of next steps. Which leads me to my next point, this interaction tells me that to this salesman, I was just another sale. If I couldn't come in early enough to 'seal the deal' then, according to this person, I needn't bother coming in at all. I don't know about you, but I'm not sure I feel comfortable dropping 60,000 at a business that doesn't have time for me.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0Business owner information

I had an interesting experience buying my car here. I had contacted them regarding a car to test drive and had it scheduled with someone specific but they ended up having to leave so they sent me to someone else who was very pushy and didn't seem to understand my finance situation and wanted me to finance through them even though I had other options, I ended up walking out of the dealership that night and got back into touch with the person I was originally working with and they were able to save the experience and I ended up getting the car. Overall they need to work on actually listening to the customer and what they are telling them and not being pushy and treating you like you don't know anything or just assuming and try and not make you feel stupid. Overall the experience got better but it should've been good from the start.

I recently bought a toyota tacoma 4 wheel drive as a work truck/ extra vehicle and let me tell you i have never been so happy with a purchase or a vehicle in my lifetime. Of course a few things need fixing and replacing but ive been doing alot of the work on it myself and having fun doing it. Right up until last week. Last week i pulled the tailgate to address some issues and found that i needed a mounting bolt. after hours of searching i finally found the part number and someone who had one, Toyota of Demoines imagine my relief i ordered the part which was less than 2 dollars and paid the postage which was over 8 dollars and went to bed monday i looked in my email for the tracking info. it read "Label generated awaiting drop off". i was furious, i paid 4 times as much for the postage that i did for the part and these clowns hadnt bothered to take it to the post office yet. I sent an email to the parts department expressing my dissatisfaction and i waited the next day i got an email from the manager of parts who explained to me that he had delivered it to the post office but after receiving my email he retrieved it absolutely livid at that point i couldnt believe what i was reading the guy was intentionally causing problems. its now friday a week later and the clown still hasnt mailed my part what a bunch of idiots
